Bio
Phoebe Sinclair writes lyrical contemporary fiction featuring young people of color and recently launched her first novel for young readers, CONFESSIONS OF A CANDY SNATCHER, Candlewick Press 2023. Voice is central to Phoebe’s work. She explores the methods through which people flourish in the margins, as well as themes of introspection, curiosity, and artistic expression. Her characters struggle with and cultivate identities that embody “both/and” rather than “either/or.”
Phoebe holds a degree in Writing, Literature and Publishing from Emerson College. She is a PEN New England Children’s Book Caucus Susan P. Bloom Discovery Award recipient, and served as the 2018 Ivan Gold Fellow at The Writer’s Room of Boston. With her writer’s critique group of 21+ years, Phoebe operates an independent publishing collective, Table for 7 Press (tablefor7press.com).
Phoebe works at two Cambridge-based non-profits. In her free time, she bike commutes, consumes heaps of Avengers fan fiction, and eats delicious food that other people cook for her. Phoebe lives in Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood with her graphic designer, musician partner and numerous thirsty plants.
